It’s Seattle Floating Homes Association’s 100th anniversary! What an honor to work with such a vibrant, historically iconic local community to create their 2025 tour poster, prep press materials, and pitch to local outlets.

Seattle’s most dazzlingly eccentric neighborhood (with the hands-down best waterfront views) currently encompasses 500 houseboats — unconventional homes to individuals from every walk of life.

What began as early-1900s makeshift housing for loggers and fishermen evolved into a Prohibition-era bootlegger’s haven, then an enclave for artists and musicians through the 1960s.

100+ years later, Seattle’s houseboat community continues to serve as a living testament to the city’s unwavering environmentalism, eccentricity and fiercely independent spirit.

I’m thrilled to announce Anodyne Magazine Vol. 6 is out now! At the conclusion, you can find my essay on misdiagnosis prevalence in women, who are a staggering 66% more likely to receive an incorrect diagnosis compared to men. That risk jumps even higher for young women in the 18-24 year old age range.

Drawing from hours of research, statistics, and experience — both personal, and from countless peers’ horror stories, it’s evident that this issue is far from isolated. It’s deeply ingrained in a broken medical system — a system in which women and BIPOC individuals weren’t included in studies until 1993, and, even now, medical studies and new findings take an average of 20 years to disseminate into training programs that educate and inform providers. Two decades. Think about the implications of that for a second.

This is a topic I’m extremely passionate about, as it demands not only our attention, but the necessity of systemic change. Read my peice to learn about this issue and how to lower your odds of receiving potentially life-changing incorrect diagnoses.

One of my all-time favorite design projects! I used a 3-column layout to draft out this sample spread on InDesign. It’s constructed in feature magazine style with predominant visuals, a tri-color palette, and a blend of decorative and traditional serif fonts.
